3rd INTERNATIONAL COURSE ON ARCHAEOLOGY AND CULTURES OF THE ANCIENT MEDITERRANEAN
The Universitat Jaume I of Castellón (Spain), the Università di Macerata (Italy), the Université de Lorraine (France), the Universität Potsdam (Germany) and the Archaeological Museum of Burriana (Spain) are organising the 3rd edition of the International Course on Archaeology and Cultures of the Ancient Mediterranean, which this year will take place between Monday 21 and Sunday 27 October 2024 in Burriana.
The archaeological interventions of the Course are part of the research project of the maritime villa of Sant Gregori (Burriana coast, Spain) (I century B.C.-IV c. A.D.), and the excavation works planned will take place in the residential sector. Previous interventions carried out at this site have made it possible to recover a complex stratigraphic sequence that illustrates the evolution of the Roman site, as well as other evidence on the coast that demonstrates the existence of a Bronze Age cremation necropolis, a early Imperial Roman settlement, as well as other sites from the Roman Republican and Medieval periods.
